Livingston County’s Push for More Organ Donor Registrations
November 29th, 2015 by Nancy Ryan
WROC-TV/News 8’s Jordan Guerrein reports that county leaders across New York State are raising awareness about organ donation. The collaboration is between the New York Alliance for Donation and the State Association of Counties.
Livingston County is the first to participate in the campaign, which is called Working Together, Working for Life.
Compared with other states nationwide, in terms of the percentage of those registered to donate organs, New York ranks 49th.
That’s why this push for more donors to register in New York’s organ donor registry meets a crucial need.
Rob Kochik, Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network’s executive director, told WROC: “Think about it personally, for our own individual decisions. Talk with our family members and then ultimately enroll in the New York State Donate Life Registry.
“So quite literally what Livingston County is doing will help us save more lives.”
