April 17 Rochester River Run/Walk 5K, in Support of Organ Transplants and Donation

Run or walk with greater purpose!
The 15th annual Rochester River Run/Walk 5K, which promotes awareness and educates the public about organ donation while commemorating organ donors and recipients, is set to take place on April 17 at Genesee Valley Park.
A collaboration between UR Medicine’s Friends of Strong Memorial Hospital, the hospital’s transplant units, and Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network, the Rochester River Run/Walk 5K is a fundraiser that supports patients still waiting for a life-saving organ transplant, or transplant recipients already on the road to recovery and a second chance at life.
The morning also includes a moving tribute to organ donors, donor families and transplant recipients.
April is National Donate Life Month. During the month, Americans are encouraged to register as organ, eye and tissue donors, and to celebrate those that have saved lives through the gift of donation.

What you need to know
- WHAT: Rochester River Run/Walk 5K – Run, walk or build a team and collect pledges to help patients who are awaiting or recovering from organ transplant surgery. Also during the event, organ donors and donor families will be honored.
- WHEN: Sunday, April 17, 2016
- WHERE: Genesee Valley Park (Round House), 99 Elmwood Avenue. The Run/Walk takes place along a scenic, park-lined portion of the Genesee River.
- EVENT SCHEDULE: 8:00 a.m. On-site registration through 9:30 a.m.

You can sign up as an individual or become a fundraiser—creating a team and collecting pledges to benefit transplant patient care initiatives at Strong. Prizes will be awarded to the two top pledge collectors.
