Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network is helping Team Finger Lakes as they head to the 2012 Transplant Games of America.

Transplant Games of America 2012
The 2012 Transplant Games of America are on! The purpose of the Transplant Games of America is to spread the message about the importance of donation and the gift of life. The multi-sport festival will attract organ, tissue and bone marrow transplant recipients, living organ donors, and donor families from across the country.
The opening ceremonies, closing ceremonies and majority of of sporting events will be held on the campus of Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tentative sporting events include: 5K run, badminton, basketball, cycling, golf, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track and field, and volleyball, bowling, and racquetball.
Who Can Participate in the Transplant Games of America?
To participate as a recipient athlete, you must meet the following requirements:
- Have received a life saving transplant (regardless if you are taking anti-rejection medications or not)
- Transplant has occurred at least 9 months prior to the start of the Games
- You are in healthy condition
- Your doctor has signed a medical waiver allowing you to participate
- You have signed a form stating that you meet all the above requirements
NOTE: Living donors and donor families can also participate.
Finger Lakes Team
A team of recipients and donor families from the Rochester and Syracuse areas will be traveling to the Transplant Games of America. The team meets monthly (see calendar for dates, times, and location) and welcomes anyone who is interested in participating in the Games, and/or is willing to help with fundraising efforts.
