Thanksgiving at Strong Memorial Hospital 2015

As WROC-TV/News 8 Rochester explains, Strong Memorial Hospital is not where you want to be this Thanksgiving. But for a group of five patients waiting for heart transplants, they couldn’t be more thankful.

WROC’s Jeff Rusack tells TV viewers: “Right now there are 354 people waiting for a heart transplant in the state of New York. The best thing you can do to help, is to sign up as an organ donor.”

And Bernie Hoppy, who is one of those waiting for a new heart, says: “I’ve met a lot of good people. A lot of really great nurses that amaze me, even the new nurses, the student nurses that are here, going through some schooling. It’s amazing.”
